Honeycomb Mediterranean Sea Sponge

Honeycomb sea sponges are the finest quality of natural sponge available, as they are silky soft, highly absorbent and create a luxurious lather. This is because they are gathered from the Mediterranean, where the cooler sea temperature and greater depths create very strong, dense sponges. The unique texture exfoliates the skin in a gentle, caring and natural way for a truly pampering experience.

The divers that harvest these sponges are carefully monitored, and carry special licences to fish for sponges. All the sponges are inspected by the relevant Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to be certified for export. The divers harvest the sponges individually by cutting the sponge at the base, leaving the roots intact and enabling the sponge to regrow. Sponges also have the ability to regenerate from the smallest fragment, so when the sponges are disturbed by the divers moving on the sea bed, they release cells and multiply.

The Natural Sea Sponge Company still uses the old traditional methods of the sponge industry to process, measure and prepare sponges for sale. Every stage in the production of natural sponges is carefully monitored, from the sourcing by the divers to the packaging of the final product. The sponges undergo 42 stages of processing by hand and the final stages are always carried out in the London-based warehouse. This ensures complete quality control from beginning to end.

Natural sea sponges are a biodegradable and renewable natural resource. These sponges can last two or more years with normal care. After every use, rinse well and squeeze out all excess water, then allow to dry naturally.
